Pendulum Slip Testing – Boats and Cruise Ships

Surface Performance are frequently asked to carry out pendulum slip tests for the nautical industry. Slip testing is widely used in various areas, for example:

  • Pendulum slip testing a marina jetty / marina platforms.
  • Slip resistance testing of decking installed at marinas or lifeboat stations.
  • Slip resistance testing on board larger vessels or cruise ships.
  • Slip testing to ferry terminal walkways.

A recent application was the pendulum slip testing of a bar area on board a large cruise ship. The testing was instructed by a solicitors firm who were acting on behalf of their client who slipped whilst on holiday in the bar area. Through our specialist pendulum slip testing services we are able to ascertain if the flooring was within HSE  pendulum slip testing requirements.
